The Coronavirus Crisis, as Seen by the People of Munich
Early 2020 was dominated by the coronavirus pandemic. Munich was in total lockdown for weeks, everyday life changed quickly and radically for millions of people in the city and surrounding areas. The new realities ushered in by the crisis, such as social distancing rules and restrictions on contacts, were our constant companions and presented unique challenges.
The Münchner Stadtmuseum has sought to curate the experiences and impressions of the people of Munich during those difficult times. We have been fortunate, since the start of our appeal for materials to receive some 250 submissions, documenting ”new normal” in all its many facets – uncertainty, frustration, solidarity, endurance and hopes for the future. Here is a broad selection beginning with some of the earliest submissions that we received.
